Six Things Every Parent Should Know Before Choosing A Dance Studio
PROPER CLASS ATTIRE
Ballet/Tap Combo: Solid Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers and tan tap shoes. Leotards with attached ballet skirts are NOT ACCEPTABLE. We provide pink tutus for our dancers. Hair must be secured neatly in a ballet bun, or pinned with a hair barrette off the neck. Ballet slippers must have elastic sewn over the instep. NO RIBBONS OR BOWS on tap shoes. Tan buckles or tan tap shoe buttons are required.

Jazz or Hip Hop: Black Jazz pants or capris, black leotard, black fitted crop top or studio dance top. Tan Slip On Jazz Oxfords for Jazz or Black Jazz Sneakers for Hip Hop. Upper levels of jazz may require both tan and black shoes for the Spring Concert – ask in the office for details.
Tap: Black Jazz pants or capris, black leotard, black fitted crop top or studio dance top. Tan tap shoes. NO RIBBONS OR BOWS on shoes for all pre-school classes. Tan buckles or tan tap shoe buttons are required. Upper level classes need to ask in the office for details.
Gentlemen: Solid white or black t–shirt, black tights, black jazz pants or black sweat pants with dancers belt; black ballet, jazz, or tap shoes.
COSTUMES & STREET CLOTHES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR CLASS.

ENROLLMENT
Enrollment for all classes is by pre-registration. Students will be accepted into a class after pre-registration on a space available basis. Class sizes are limited. Preschool enrollment will be closed to new students on December 20 and all classes will be closed to new students on January 20.
TUITION
It is school policy that there are no refunds on tuition for any reason. Please do not register unless you plan to attend class regularly. The school year begins in August and goes throughout the end of May.
We hope that each student will complete the year, but if a student should discontinue a class a 30-day notice is required. A WITHDRAWAL FORM must be filled out in the office by the 5th of the month to stop the next months payment. Any withdrawal forms completed after the 5th will be considered dated as the first of the next month. Monthly tuition is computed on the entire school year and is the same each month, including those shortened by Christmas holiday and Spring Break.
PAYMENT OF TUITION
All tuition is due the first of the month and will be paid via Auto Debit from a Visa, Mastercard, Discover or checking account. $30 fee will be charged for insufficient checking accounts or for declined or invalid credit cards. If any account has an outstanding balance after 60 days, the student will be automatically be withdrawn from the school. Tuition may be paid in full for the entire dance season (August – May) if one wishes not to pay via Auto Debit. Tuition is calculated on the entire dance year and is the same each month, including those shortened by vacations such as Fall Break, Christmas Break and Spring Break.
WITHDRAWALS
We hope each student will complete the year, but if a student should discontinue classes a 30 day written notice is required. Any withdrawal forms completed after the 5th will be considered dated as to the first of the next month. Phone calls and verbal notice are not acceptable.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
If the Knox County schools are closed due to snow, there will be no morning classes. If the roads are clear by 12:00 noon, please call the studio to verify if classes will go on as scheduled. We post closings on three local news stations when available. If you are unsure, please call before coming to the studio. We cannot call every student about weather related closings.
IN-SERVICE SCHOOL CLOSINGS
The studio will be open for all in-service holidays by Knox County Schools.
HOLIDAYS
The studio will observe the Knox County School schedule for Labor Day, Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break.
MISSED CLASSES
All dancers who miss a class may schedule a make-up class within 30 days of the missed class. All make up classes need to be scheduled in the studio office. Students may only do one make-up per month. No makeup classes will be available in April and May due to rehearsal for the Spring Concert during class time.
OBSERVATION OF CLASSES
It is our belief that students work more productively when not observed. Teachers need the student’s full attention without interruption or distraction to teach effectively. For this reason, parents, friends, and family members are asked to observe class on the designated “Parents Weeks”. Parents may also watch class on the monitor located in the lobby.
SPRING CONCERT
Every year in May the studio puts on their annual Spring Concert to showcase the talents and hard work of our dancers over the past year at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium. The Spring Concert features special performances by Angels Kickline, The Angela Floyd Dance Company, and our famous Dancing Dads. This end-of-year concert allows students a chance to display their accomplishments and experience performing on stage with their class. It is not mandatory to be in the Spring Concert, but it is an invaluable and rewarding experience, which we highly recommend. The performance is a wonderful opportunity for the young dancer to build self-confidence and gain new skills.
QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER
A newsletter will be sent home every 3-4 months to keep you up to date on events and announcements. Newsletters will also be posted on the studio website. We love to include special honors, awards, and events of our students, so please let us know of any special honors your dancer receives along with a picture.
