Giving extra special kids a Chance to Dance this school year!

Arts for the Amazing offers students in Knoxville and surrounding areas of all abilities the chance to dance and achieve goals beyond what they believe is possible. In this supportive, positive environment, students with disabilities are paired with typically developing peers to maximize participation, while encouraging social interactions and relationship-building. This class develops basic dance skills, explores movement concepts, musicality, improvisation, and basic technique in various dance disciplines. Students will learn developmentally-appropriate choreography and explore artistic expression while working towards functional goals. This class is a great way to develop confidence, coordination, motor skills, teamwork, and make new friends! Informal performances will be held throughout the year at the end of the normal class time to celebrate the dancers’ progress and achievements.

Carolyn Palffy Becker is from Winchester, VA where she trained at Vostrikov’s Academy of Ballet. She graduated magna cum laude from George Mason University with a BFA in Dance. Upon graduating, she moved to NYC to pursue a career in dance and received a full scholarship to attend the National Dance Institute’s Teaching Artists Training Program. She team taught with the National Dance Institute’s Public School Outreach Program in NYC public schools. Her dance performance credits include: National Tour of Super WHY! Live You’ve Got The Power, National Tours of Sesame Street Live Can’t Stop Singing and Let’s Dance!, and Kings Dominion, Unstrung. She most recently was the principal dancer in Miracles, a contemporary ballet, at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Carolyn is formerly the Assistant Manager for the National Tour of Paw Patrol Live.
