AFS dance student and company member, Miss Leia Riehl took her community service project activity for West High School to the next level. She contacted me to see if she could provide a unique experience for her project just like we offer on a weekly basis at AFS in our Arts for the Amazing program. Her hard work and dedication along with AFS instructor, Miss Carolyn who specializes in our program did an amazing job and everyone had a wonderful time. A big shout out to all our volunteer helpers for making this a great memory for everyone.

Here is a little information about Leia’s project through West High School:
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is a comprehensive, rigorous program of advanced studies that demands the best from motivated students. IB students study a broad spectrum of subjects and engage in research and experiential learning through school, community and international activities. In the forty years since its founding, the IB Diploma Programme has become a symbol of academic integrity and intellectual promise, recognized by leading universities in the United States and throughout the world.
.
Personal Project is the culminating MYP experience that West High School 10th graders develop and create throughout the sophomore year. This is a mandatory experience for all 10th graders, and gives each student the chance to create a truly personal and creative project of their choosing. Through this endeavor, each student will be able to demonstrate his/her ability to take initiative, think creatively, and communicate effectively.
