AFS Classroom Buddy
What is a classroom buddy?
-
A classroom buddy is the NEW AFS leadership role. They will do their best to assure everyone feels a part of the class. You remember those nervous jitters in your first few classes, maybe you didn’t know anyone in the class and maybe you were even new to AFS. Your goal is to try to make sure everyone feels the love and friendship of the AFS community. Basically, that they feel included and not left out. We want everyone to feel a part of the AFS family and their class. It’s more than just a dance class…….It’s all about making memories and lifelong friends
What if my child is in preschool and kind of shy?
-
Mom & Dad can certainly jump in and help out….kind of like a classroom parent, but with a tiny helper. Children learn from seeing what others do and it will help build their self-confidence. Assist tiny ones with ways they can help others in the class with the fear of leaving mom and dad, etc.
-
Parents can also assist other parents in the lobby with questions they might have. Remember the first time you were worried about leaving you little one backstage at the spring concert? Let the new parents know how well organized and safe their child will be. And as always, refer them to the office staff if needed.
Ways older dancers can really help.
-
If someone is new to your class, make sure and introduce yourself (even if they have been at AFS for some time) they may not know your name.
-
Stand next to them during the ballet barre or warm up
-
Go across the floor with them…..spread the love and don’t pick your same old friends to stand next to, etc.
-
Make sure you let them know they can come to you with any questions about the class.
-
Give feedback to the teacher and know you can always contact Miss Angel with any questions. angela@angelafloydschools.com
On the first day of class, their teacher will give them an AFS Classroom Buddy pin to wear. Feel free to wear it to every class you are assigned to as an AFS Classroom Buddy.
